Motor solenoid, EQ Systems part 1444
The motor solenoid is the heavy duty switch that carries battery current to the pump motor when the control panel or switch calls for it. Part 1444 is the standard solenoid across EQ Systems uni-directional systems, listed in the parts books as SOLENOID-HD PLTD, and it is one of the parts supplied inside the 2542KS pump assembly.
Fitment
- All EQ Systems uni-directional units use solenoid 1444, except SPX units with the smart start, which use 7055
- A direct replacement on trailers and motorized units where 1444 is already fitted
- On some motorized units it is not a direct swap and wiring instructions are supplied with the order
Testing before replacing
The control panel sends 12 VDC to the solenoid on the blue wire, pin 11 of the 12 pin connector on the older platform. If the solenoid clicks but the motor does not turn, the fault is more likely the motor or its cables than the solenoid. If nothing happens at all, check for battery voltage at the solenoid main stud and for the signal at the small stud. Power and ground to the pump must be clean: the ground to the pump stud and the positive cable to the motor solenoid are the two connections EQ Systems calls out for annual inspection.
