Replacement plunger style leg switch, EQ Systems part 7514
Replacement for any plunger style leg switch. One per jack.
What a leg switch does
The leg switch sits at the bottom of the jack cylinder on the jack mounting plate and reports whether that jack is down. When the foot extends away from the stowed position the plunger extends and the switch closes, grounding the leg switch wire and lighting the jack down indicator on the control panel. When the foot retracts it presses the plunger, the switch opens and the light goes out. On a four point system there is one on each leg.
Check the foot before fitting a new switch
A missing jack foot will not operate the leg switch at all, and a bent or distorted foot may not activate it properly. A foot bent upward can damage or destroy the switch, so a new switch fitted under a damaged foot will fail again.
Mounting
The switch mounts with two screws and a clip on the jack mounting plate at the bottom of the cylinder, with the harness routed up behind the mounting plate and the slack cable tied at the top.
Diagnosing the jack down circuit
Each leg switch has a ground wire and a leg switch wire that runs to the control panel. On the older platform those land on pins 2, 4, 6 and 8 of the 12 pin connector, on the trace wires: brown for left front, white for right front, orange for left rear and yellow for right rear. If one light never comes on, check that leg switch and its ground first. If none work, look at the panel and the harness.
