EQ Systems controller 3197SC, replacement
Replacement control module for EQ Systems hydraulic leveling systems, version 3197SC.
What the controller does
The controller 3197SC is the black box that sits between the control panel and the hydraulics. It reads the level sensor, decides which jack to move and for how long, and switches the valve coils and the pump motor to get there. The keypad or switch panel the operator touches is a separate part.
Set the Null after fitting a new controller
A replacement controller 3197SC does not know where level is on your coach. After installation the Null has to be set, which teaches the system the level position the operator wants. The procedure is in the owner manual for your system and there is a video in the support section of the EQ Systems site. Auto-Level will not work correctly until this is done.
Voltage matters more than people expect
Before condemning a controller 3197SC, check voltage. Measured at the control panel it should not fall below 11 volts during operation, and at 10.5 volts the panel stops Auto-Level altogether. Auto-Level needs more voltage than manual control, so a coach that still runs the jacks manually but refuses to auto level is often a battery problem rather than a controller problem. The control panel has a low voltage light that comes on below about 10.5 volts and stays on until a button is pressed.
Before you replace a controller
The controller 3197SC, like all EQ Systems controllers, is maintenance free, so most failures are environmental or connection related. Check that the controller is properly secured and that the plug connections are free from corrosion before replacing it.
Related parts
The Auto Level keypad is part 3103. A keypad exposed to liquid will need replacing: keypads and controllers are maintenance free but they are not waterproof.
Verify compatibility before ordering
EQ Systems has built a number of controller versions and they are not interchangeable across every system. Check your original equipment before purchasing, either through the support section or by calling EQ Systems at 800-846-9659 with the number printed on the controller you are replacing.
