Description

Reversing contactor, EQ Systems part 2994

The reversing contactor is the heavy duty switch that sends battery current to the pump motor and reverses the polarity to change the direction the motor runs. Bi-directional pumps use it to drive jacks and slide rooms both ways from one motor.

Fitment

  • Used on the following pumps: S101T*5334, S101T*5338, S100T*5151, S100T*5161
  • Listed as the solenoid for the 2727, 2754, 3040, 3041 and 3043 pump assemblies, which use motor 2751
  • A direct replacement on trailers and motorized units where 2994 is the existing part
  • Supplied inside the 3195KS pump assembly, alongside reservoir 3329K, fill cap 3330 and motor 3332

Testing the old contactor

Do not jump or short the contactor for testing. A dead short to ground can occur and damage the contactor and the wiring; a voltmeter is required. With a digital voltmeter, measure across the two motor terminals while pressing extend and retract: at least 10.5 VDC should appear. If the voltage is good and the motor does not run, the motor is defective. If the motor runs one way only, check for exciter voltage at the blue wire on the contactor when pressing extend and at the green wire when pressing retract: voltage present without the contactor clicking in means the contactor is defective, and no voltage means the fault is in the control circuit.

If you test the motor directly with jumper cables, remove the wires from the motor studs first and refit the nuts. Leaving them connected creates a dead short to ground through the contactor and wiring, at very high current, which will damage both.
