Description

Circuit breaker for El Pac systems, EQ Systems part 6964

The El Pac is an electric gearbox that bolts to an existing manual trailer jack and motorises it. El Pac 1 lifts up to 5,000 lbs and fits Bulldog, Fulton and Ram single speed jacklegs and 2-speed Bulldog jacklegs; El Pac 2 lifts up to 6,500 lbs and fits Binkley 2-speed jacklegs only.

The breaker sits between the trailer battery and the El Pac switchgear and protects that high current feed. It mounts at the battery box or another suitable location.

How it wires in

  • The red number 6 AWG wire from the switchgear lands on the AUX post, which has two nuts and sits diagonal from the battery pigtail. Use the first nut as a jamb nut
  • The red pigtail from the BAT post goes to the positive battery terminal
  • The black number 6 AWG wire from the switchgear goes to the negative battery terminal, and it is the very last connection you make
  • If the battery sits beyond the front bulkhead of the trailer, number 4 AWG wire may be needed

Specification

EQ Systems supplies the El Pac with an 80 ampere auto reset breaker assembly made up of two 40 ampere breakers in parallel. Do not install other fuses or circuit breakers on this circuit.

If your breaker keeps tripping

A motor that stops or cuts out part way through a lift is usually the system running over capacity, which trips this breaker, or low battery voltage. Check the tongue weight against the El Pac rating, 5,000 lbs for El Pac 1 and 6,500 lbs for El Pac 2, and check that a two speed jack is in the correct gear.
