Reservoir breather cap and grommet, EQ Systems part 7825
The breather cap is the vented six sided cap on top of the hydraulic pump reservoir. It lets the reservoir breathe as fluid moves out to the jacks and back again, while keeping debris and water out of the hydraulic fluid. Supplied with its grommet.
Fitment
- For MTE pumps. MTE pumps carry an S series model number on the sticker, for example S103T followed by four digits, or a KS number such as 3200KS
- SPX pumps carry a DG or DE number and take different parts
- Supplied with the grommet
The cap is not optional
A new jack or pump is shipped with a round flush mounted fill plug sealing the reservoir for transport. At installation that plug is removed and discarded and the six sided breather cap goes in its place. Running the system with the reservoir sealed will make the jack operate erratically. The pump must also be mounted so the fill and breather cap points up and can be reached for filling.
EQ Systems hydraulic systems run on Dexron III ATF. With the jacks fully retracted the fluid level should sit about one inch below the top of the reservoir. Remember the level rises as the jacks retract: a reservoir filled to the top with the jacks extended will push fluid out of the breather cap when they come back up.
