Hand pump valve for manual override pumps, EQ Systems part 1720
Pumps built with a manual override hand pump let you extend and retract the jack by hand when the system has no power. This is the replacement valve for that hand pump.
Fitment
- For pump assemblies fitted with the override hand pump, including the 2142, 3126 and 3170 pumps
- The hand pump screws into the pump housing. Tighten to 20 lb-ft on reinstallation
Test the hand pump before replacing it
The hexagonal body should be tight in the housing while the plunger and linkage still pivot. If the hex is loose, unscrew the assembly and inspect the o-ring on the nose, which must be intact with no cuts, along with its backing ring. There is a check valve built into the nose with a small hole in the end and one in the side: you should only be able to blow air through in one direction. If air passes both ways the hand pump is defective and must be replaced.
Using the hand pump override
To extend, install a handle in the hand pump and pump it, expecting 10 to 20 strokes before enough pressure builds. To retract, pull the red knurled knob on the directional valve out and turn it a quarter turn so it stays out, then pump. Return the directional valve to normal afterward or the jack can drift down. The replacement handle is part 1776.
