STABI-LITE motor and gearbox, EQ Systems part 6836
STABI-LITE is an electric stabilizing system for Class B and Class C motorhomes. It takes the lean out of a coach when a slide room is extended and nearly all of the sway from movement inside. The leg is a motor driven screw jack, not a hydraulic cylinder, and the system is a stabilizer, not a leveller.
EQ part 6836 is the replacement listed for the STABI-LITE motor gearbox, the drive on the stabilizer leg that turns the screw. It replaces motor gearbox model 853208J.
The motor is not sold on its own
A replacement motor by itself is not available for this unit. It has to be bought as a motor and gearbox assembly, which is what this part is.
Wiring
The system controller drives each leg motor through a color coded harness: gray and pink for leg 1, purple and brown for leg 2. Either harness can go to either leg, but note which color runs where, because the dials on the controller set the lifting force per leg and that is how a coach with a slide room out is brought to a more level state. Secure harnesses with cable ties or clamps to prevent damage.
Before replacing a motor gearbox
Confirm power and ground reach the motor connector when the switch is pressed. If voltage is present and the motor will not run, the gearbox may be bad or the jack assembly may be jammed. Try the cleaning and lubrication process first, using a dry film silicone or PTFE spray on the screw and nut, never an oily or greasy lubricant. If a leg is jammed you may gently try the override hex, but do not overstress it or the override will break. In extreme cold the legs may simply be frozen and need thawing.
